Yemen chams

Postby cactusfat on Sun Feb 10, 2008 6:33 pm

I'm after getting some yemen chams, i've read up about them quite a bit but was wondering if you guys could explain your set ups?
How do you keep humidity up?
Drinking - from water on plants or does your cham use a bowl?
Substrate or no substrate?
Plants - plastic, silk or real?
Feeding- how often?
Temps - what do you have?
UVB - 5 or 10, anyone use mercury bulbs?
I'm sure i had more Q's but can't think of them at the moment!
oh and pics would be great (your viv looks great blade)
Thanks

i don't know much about chams but i'll tell u what i do know
they won't drink standing water so the will need misting which helps keep the humidity up aswell or a small waterfall putting in the viv. live plants are better for them. and i think a substrate like coconut bark would be good as it does'nt go mouldy very easily and helps the humidity. hope that helps!

cheers, ive got the 5.0 UV bulb in mine, and i keep the high temps around 100, and low temps around 85 dont use subsrate tho, not the bark stuff anyway, because they can eat some of that if they pic the crix up off there and get stuck (which you dont want), ive gone for some of that coconut fibre stuff, and works, well with keeping the humidity high, i spray the viv 2-3 times daily with a water bottle spray, to get the humidity. she/he will then get there water from the drips on the leaves of it running down the side of the vivs, ive got silk or plastic plants in mine, if theres anything ive missed out, with regards to the food, i feed about 10+crix a day, and any which are left over before she goes to bed i take out if theres anything else you want to know, just ask

Drip systems are pretty cruddy for yemens - get a power sprayer from B&Q!! Flexariums are something you might want to think about too...they're perfect for Yemens!
